"Better-for-you" is doing a lot of unsupervised work on grocery shelves these days. Slap it on anything and hope nobody reads the back panel. So let's define our terms — what the phrase means at Craverly, and what it absolutely doesn't.
What it doesn't mean
- It doesn't mean health food. Churro Bites are dessert. We will never pretend a churro is a salad, and you should distrust anyone who does.
- It doesn't mean flavor sacrifice. If "better" requires "worse-tasting," it isn't better. It's just a different disappointment.
- It doesn't mean permission slips. We don't do "guilt-free" framing, because guilt was never a reasonable response to dessert in the first place.
What it does mean
It means when we had a choice in how to make the thing, we made the better one, every time:
- Extra-virgin olive oil where the industry defaults to seed oils
- 1g of sugar per piece, so flavor comes from the churro, not a sugar fog
- All top 9 allergens out — so "everyone can eat these" is literal
- Certified gluten-free, Non-GMO Project Verified, kosher, vegan, organic sourcing
Not claims layered on the food. Just how it's actually made.
The standard
Our test is simple: would we serve this to the people we love, on a good day, without a disclaimer? Everything in the box passes. That's the whole definition.
